Have you ever had cranky days? I mean those days when the little things upset you, peace eludes you and there seems to be a war going on in your mind? If you look closely, you’ll realize that those days often coincide with days when you haven’t studied your bible or prayed.
That should come as no surprise to you. When physically hungry, people tend to be irritable, likewise, when your spirit man isn’t fed, you desire, act and think strangely. You’re not the only one. I’ve been in the same situation several times.
Know that you daily feed your flesh by what you hear and see. If your spirit man isn’t fed likewise, your flesh which is fed daily through your senses will dominate. Moreover, your emotions (soul) respond to whichever dominates. You may have noticed that the days when you were in your best behavior were days you felt like your spirit man was fed. But on the days you were starved of prayer and bible study, joy eluded you.
Here’s one thing you must understand: Joy is a fruit of your born again spirit. This implies that the Holy Spirit alone gives joy from within us which is produced when our spirit man is edified by the word and also by worship.
Are you feeling spiritually dry,
1. Scrutinize Your 24 Hours.
Having a morning and night devotion is beautiful. However, the hours in-between are equally as important. If you’re one who spends the greater part of your day engaged in unedifying things like watching sin-stirring movies or jamming to ungodly songs, you’re in for many cranky days. I’m not downplaying your movie life. However, measure what you watch. Do not spend your entire day watching a Korean movie and wonder why you feel spiritually dry.
2. Stir His Spirit Within.
Over the years, I noticed that my cranky days were days when I did not stir up The Holy Spirit In me. You’re having many irritable days and not experiencing His Joy from within because you quench His Spirit more often than you stir Him. Listen to music while studying. Play a sermon working. You can stir up the Holy Ghost on your inside while stirring a pot of soup over the fire.
.. I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert to give drink to My people, Chosen.
3. The Word, Your Food
If you’re a faithful doer of the above points and still feel spiritually dry, please seek out where your spirit man can be fed. Find a Bible-based Church and follow pastors who teach biblical truths online.
