My God is Omnipresent ’cause He exists everywhere simultaneously. In Psalms 139:7-9 David said, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there”. God is everywhere. However, He also localizes His presence.
Everyone knows the story of Moses at the Burning Bush. That was God localizing His presence in order to be perceived by Moses. He did that because He wanted to speak to Moses. In fact, they had a thorough conversation and understood each other clearly. Does it mean that God wasn’t present before the bush appeared to be inflamed? No. He was there but wasn’t perceived by Moses.
For a more effective time with God,
1. Seek His Face Alone
This is synonymous to localizing His presence. Many times we come to God with our troubles and prayer points and stay focused on gushing them out to Him. Try seeking His face first. Seeking God’s face means seeking for and enjoying His presence. If you desired to speak to your someone, you’d require his/her presence right? It applies the same way with God. Get into worship first. Seek His Face first. Call on Him and He’ll draw near. This way, you’ll get His attention and He’ll Localize His presence for you.
2. Now, Speak And Be Patient To Hear Him Respond.
After He localizes His presence, He’ll speak with you and you’ll surely hear Him. Now is the time for you to gush out your worries, ask questions and whatnots. In this time, keep your notepad and pen close by ’cause He’ll answer you clearly.
3. keep records
Make sure to keep a record of every communication ’cause we humans are swift to forget.
I guess the point I’m trying to pass across is that you should be focused on Him and not on what you want of Him. Other things will follow after He localizes His presence.
